The PROOF Research carbon fiber barrel cuts weight from an AR-15 without giving up accuracy. It is a 16" barrel with a .223 Wylde chamber, so it shoots both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO, and a 1:8 twist that handles most bullet weights from light varmint loads up to heavier match bullets.

PROOF wraps a steel barrel in carbon fiber, which makes it much lighter than a steel barrel of the same contour and helps it shed heat. It uses a mid-length gas system with a .750" gas block journal and a 5/8x24 muzzle thread, so check that your muzzle device matches before ordering.
